This session built on the context set in January’s “Idle No More: A Love Story” Dialogue. In this session we explored "Theory U", the systems approach to social and personal transformation developed by the Presencing Institute (www.presencing.org) which is based on nearly 20 years of action research in a wide range of government, health care, NGO and business contexts.
Its potential for transformation has been tested with extremely positive results in Indonesia (turning around political corruption), Germany (improving healthcare), China (with state owned businesses) and many others.
In this dialogue we will present some of the main principles along with reflective questions in small groups to stimulate the conversation around the transformative implications of this practice for a reclaimed economy from a competitive model of winners and losers to a co-creative model of collaboration across all sectors, re-establishing the commons.
You will experience from our infectious enthusiasm how important this process has been for us.
Facilitators:
David Burman is a long time activist who claims to have "an irrational attachment to the continuation of the human species." One of the core group of Unify Toronto, David has come to see the practical possibilities of Presencing taking off where other consciousness changing initiatives leave off.
Dennis Rak is an entrepreneur and community activist who has successfully used the principles of "Theory U" to bring about some important changes in municipal structure.
