Our Purpose

1.  Bring together a critical mass of people, organizations and networks working toward positive change in Toronto for:
  • increased clarity on how their own action contributes to a common vision of the society we want
  • improved understanding of how other groups’ action complements and supports their own
  • greater support and inspiration in knowing who else is contributing to the vision and how
  • strengthened collaborative linkages with one another in support of the vision
  • enlivened creative energy within each participating person, group, and in the larger society

2.  Create and become a growing self-organizing network of collaboration that builds momentum over time

Our Role

Knowing the power of connections to catalyze change--
  • We inter-connect, synergize and unify agents of life-sustaining change.
  • We act as connective tissue in the social body and as the interstitial fluid through which social cells communicate.
  • We work on behalf of the whole community, with a sense of connection to each and every being, with a passion for the greatest good of all.
  • We recognize we are learning how to be the interstitial fluid as we go, through experimentation, reflection and dialogue.

Deborah Frieze explains our theory of change in this video:

Our Strategy

We will reach out into the remarkable positive change-making groups, organizations and networks that abound in Toronto, going beyond our own networks…
to organizations in, or representing, disenfranchised communities and neighbourhoods; and to the diverse ethnic and social groups that are the true face of Toronto.

We will go to them…
  • With an “Invitation through resonance” – seeking shared dreams and values
  • Listening deeply to who they are and what they are striving for, which of their core needs are unmet – and refining our thinking and action through this process, to better achieve our intentions
  • Making real person-to-person connections (not just an e-mail)
  • Letting them know that their work is vital and their contribution is needed
  • In their own meetings and gatherings

We will invite them to share in a process that…
  • brings their resources, gifts, strengths and needs together with those of others in a way that results in greater impact and heightened effectiveness of each one
  • creates a context of alignment - a sense of what we are all working toward, the higher purpose that we share
  • builds a supportive network of diverse organizations
  • is facilitated and moderated to be effective and co-creative
  • is responsive to their requests, requirement and needs
